CNPC acquires development rights to Canada’s oil sands: A first for a Chinese company
　中国石油天然気集団公司（CNPC）はこのほど、カナダ・アルバータ州にあるオイルサンド鉱の開発権を取得したことを発表した。カナダでオイルサンド開発の主導権を握った中国企業は同社が初めて。中国のエネルギー企業の大きな成長を示すものといえそうだ。
　オイルサンドは原油を含む砂状の鉱物資源。採掘コストは高いものの、原油価格の急騰により、利益が見込まれていることから、オイルサンド埋蔵量世界第２位のカナダは各企業の注目の的となっている。
　同社によると、同プロジェクトは11カ所に及んでおり、総面積は258万6000平方キロメートル。今回売り出された土地はアルバータ州政府が所有し、現地の人に「オフィシャルランド」と呼ばれている。（編集DS）
